GLBT MINNEAPOLIS
The Fruit of the Loom gang in Pride parade
Absent of a gay neighborhood or “strip,” the community
is wonderfully integrated into the Minneapolis scene. Home to a legendary
theater scene, trendy dining, fantastic shopping, lively nightlife and
more, Minneapolis makes a great getaway for GLBT travelers. While there
are gay bars and establishments, Minneapolis’ most striking asset
is its sense of inclusiveness.
With the 2nd-largest per capita GLBT population in the U.S. (and 3rd
largest concentration of same-sex couples), Minneapolis is a leader in
extending
gay rights
to its citizens. Since passing its first protection policies 20 years
ago,
the city has enjoyed some of the strongest GLBT rights in the country.
